Location

Forch


Forch is located in Zurich’s Pfannestil region and is 15 km east of the city center. It is aprox. 700m / 2100FT above sea level and lies between lake of Zurich and lake Greifen. About 8 Nm SE of ZRH-Airport (LSZH RWY34).

Forch is a pass and originally a small hamlet, today a recreational area and divided among three political communes. During the 2nd war of Zurich in 1799, the Russian troops fled over the Forch as part of the Allies (Austria-Hungary, England and Russia) from Napoleon’s troops. Read more about that.
A railwy connects the aglomeration with Zürich downtown since 1911.
